This article explores what it means to move beyond simply flattening or sharing power and toward designing liberatory systems grounded in clarity, accountability, meaningful participation, and collective agency.

Resistance has protected communities, challenged injustice, and saved lives—but lasting transformation also requires the courage to imagine beyond the systems we oppose. This reflection explores liberatory systems change as a creative and relational practice, inviting us to move from responding to harm toward building new possibilities for power, connection, and collective belonging.

Resistance to organizational change is often dismissed as fear, apathy, or stubbornness—but it may be communicating something important. This article invites leaders to look beneath resistance, understand what it reveals about trust, power, participation, and people’s lived experiences, and approach change as a relational process rather than a problem of individual compliance.
